Painting for me was born out of a nagging desire to play with colour. For years I found myself falling in love with colour, one after the other, needing to surround myself with objects in those colours. Yet I never thought of myself as an artist. I just wanted to paint.
I am still an emerging artist, self-taught, which makes life interesting because no one has given me a set of rules. A year into this journey, painting has become an exploration in emotion as I get deeper into this love affair I am having with colour. Right now I am in the process of combining images I see in my mind with what I see in nature. And because I live in a very remote part of Canada surrounded by mountains, lakes and woods, my paintings often reflect this in use of colour and subject matter.
