Birch Trees, 18 x 24, acrylic on canvas.
Another new painting for my show at the Bluebelle. I think I have fallen in love with birch trees. This painting, like White Birch, is also painted from a photograph. Perhaps this is the beginning of a new way of painting for me. I suppose it's all in training the eye to see what's there and not just what you think is there.
Since I started painting I have noticed that I look at the world much differently. I used to think trees were just trees: they have a trunk, and some leaves, and sometimes the leaves change colour and fall off. No big deal. But to paint them and actually make them look like trees wasn't as easy as I thought.
See you at the Bluebelle July 15 to September 1, 2009.
